So Walker wins the recall. Once again democracy prevails. It actually prevailed back when the elected gov. tried passing reforms when the dems decided to take their ball and go home. Saying it wasn't democracy, conservatives in the majority weren't playing fair. Yet oddly in 2008 when the dems railroaded law after law through the dem controlled congress and president it was a "mandate" by the people. And of course the people & many congressmen didn't even need to read it. The people tried voting against obamacare by electing rep. Brown in Mass, but the dems just went around it. Stimulus passed on the basis of Arlen Specter voting against his constituents and switching parties.
So the dems tried to recall walker, who had the audacity of trying to reduce the gov't debt by chipping away the golden calf of govt worker benefits and pension. A vote for or against the collective bargaining laws. And he wins by a rather large 9%. The state, in a years time goes from a $3.6b deficit to a $154m surplus. School districts didn't have to lay off teachers. In fact, their class sizes got smaller, and they actually got paid more. All without even having to pay union dues, which they could use to help pay more into healthcare and retirement. The only losers in this seem to be union bosses. Who's brilliant collective bargaining tactic of holding their breath until you do something couldn't accomplish the same success. Gov't unions aren't propping up the middle class, they are bankrupting it.
